How to Play Ohio Pick 3
You can enter Pick 3 by visiting an Ohio Lottery retailer.
In order to enter Pick 3, you must select three single-digit numbers from 0 to 9. Then, you need to choose one of the bet types explained below:
- Straight - you win by matching the numbers drawn in the exact order from left to right. You can wager $0.50 or $1.
- Boxed - you can win if your chosen numbers match the numbers drawn in any order. You can wager $0.50 or $1. Boxed bets can be:
- Back-Up - This type of bet combines both the Straight and Boxed bets on one ticket. If you’re lucky to win on the Straight bet, you will get both Straight and Boxed prizes. In case you win on the Boxed bet, you will only get the Boxed prize. The minimum wager is $1.
- Pair - You need to select two numbers and you will win if you manage to match two of the numbers drawn in the exact order. This bet also has more types:
- Wheel - This is a Straight play on every combination of your numbers. For example, if you enter with 1-2-3, the possible combinations would be: 1-2-3; 2-1-3; 3-1-2; 1-3-2; 3-2-1 and 2-3-1. For a $0.50 wager, the total price per play would be $3 ($0.50 x 6 bets). For a $1 wager, the total price per play would be $6 ($1 x 6 bets).
a) 6-Way Boxed - You need to pick three unique numbers (for example, 1, 2, 3) for six ways to win (1-2-3; 1-3-2; 2-1-3; 2-3-1; 3-1-2; and 3-2-1)
b) 3-Way Boxed - You need to pick two same numbers and one unique number (for example, 1, 2, 1) for three ways to win (1-1-2; 1-2-1; and 2-1-1
a) Front Pair - You win by matching the first and second numbers drawn in exact order
b) Back Pair - You win by matching the second and third numbers drawn in exact order
c) Split Pair - You win by matching the first and third numbers drawn in exact order
Prize Payments
With amounts so small in comparison to bigger inter-state lotteries like Powerball and Mega Millions, Pick 3 prizes are paid out in a single payment at any Ohio Lottery retailer. Go to the Odds and Prizes page to see how much you can win for each bet type.
When to check the winning numbers?
You can check the Pick 3 winning numbers shortly after the draws take place on the following pages:
- Numbers page for results from the last 10 drawing days
- Past Numbers for results from the past six months
- Archive page for older results from a certain year
Draws take place twice a day, seven days a week, at 12:29 PM and 7:29 PM. The one time when it is slightly later is on Saturday evening, when the draw takes place between 7:30 PM and 8:00 PM during the Cash Explosion TV show.
