How to Claim Winning Lottery Tickets in Ohio

If you won an Ohio Lottery prize, you must claim it within 180 days of the drawing date, the date of game closure for instant games, or the date of purchase for EZPLAY prizes.

In case you were lucky enough to win a Powerball, Mega Millions, Classic Lotto or Rolling Cash 5 prize, you are able to claim your winnings after 6:00 AM the next day after the drawing.

Depending on the amount you won, there are different ways in which you can claim your winnings:

• Prizes under $5,000 can be claimed by mail at the address below
• Prizes worth $599 or less can be claimed from any authorized retailer
• Prizes between $600 and $5,000 can be claimed using a Pay to Bearer certificate. This can be obtained from any authorized retailer. Afterward, you can use a claim form in order to have your winnings paid do you.

Prizes worth more than $5,000 need to be claimed at one of the regional lottery centers from the list below:

• Brooklyn Heights (Cleveland)
• Toledo
• Dayton
• Cincinnati

For larger prizes, there is a federal withholding tax of 25%. The state of Ohio also adds their own tax which is 4% when it comes to larger winnings.
