Play Mega Millions

Mega Millions has nine prize levels and each of them offers different amounts, depending on how many winning numbers you match. Matching the Mega Ball will bring you a $2 prize while the jackpot can be won if you match all six winning numbers. The grand prize has a guaranteed minimum of $20 million and it doesn’t have a jackpot cap, meaning that it rolls over until it is won.

If more players win the jackpot, it will be equally shared among them. Except for the jackpot, all the other prize tiers have fixed amounts.

Jackpot Options

You can receive your Mega Millions jackpot in two ways:

  • Annuity
  • Cash

The annuity option means you will get your prize in 30 installments over 29 years. If you choose the cash lump sum option, your winnings will be paid out as a single payment of the present cash value of the jackpot prize.

Mega Millions jackpots are pari-mutuel which means that if there are multiple winners, the amounts will be divided equally between them.

The advertised Mega Millions jackpot is usually just an estimate and it is not always a guaranteed amount. In case you win the jackpot, you may receive less than the advertised amount. The actual amount depends on the game sales and interest rates for long-term investments.
