How to Play Mega Millions from Ohio
If you want to enter Mega Millions you can visit an authorized Ohio lottery retailer or just play online by going to our Tickets page.
In order to play Mega Millions, you need to choose five numbers from 1 to 70 and a Mega Ball between 1 and 24.
You can also ask your lottery retailer for an “Auto Pick” ticket in case you don’t know which numbers to choose. When playing online, you can use its alternative, our Mega Millions random number generator.
The price of a Mega Millions ticket is $5 per play, which automatically includes the Multiplier feature.
Multi-Draw Option
The same set of numbers can be entered in more than one drawing. The Ohio Lottery allows its participants to play up to 10 consecutive drawings.
Multiplier Option
Launched April 5, 2025 the Multiplier feature replaces the previous Megaplier, and is automatically included as part of the $5 Mega Millions ticket price.
Unlike the old Megaplier, the Multiplier has 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X and now a new 10X option. With the multiplier automatically added to your ticket, the lowest prize amount you could receive is now $10 (2X the ticket cost). This welcome change also means that if you win, the payout amount will always be more than the ticket cost - There will no longer 'breakeven' prizes.
The Multiplier is distributed as follows:
- 2X Multiplier - 1 in 2.3 chance
- 3X Multiplier - 1 in 3.2 chance
- 4X Multiplier - 1 in 8 chance
- 5X Multiplier - 1 in 16 chance
- 10X Multiplier - 1 in 32 chance
Megaplier prizes range from $10 to up to $10 million, discover details on the odds of winning the Mega Millions and the different prize tiers on our Odds and Prizes page.
How to Win
You need to match all five white balls and the gold Mega Ball to win the jackpot, but there eight other ways to win. Prizes start from matching just the Mega Ball on its own. Go to the Odds and Prizes page to see all the payouts.
